The Alois Alzheimer Center, Cincinnati, Ohio. Clearly many authorities on Alzheimer's facilities and units indicate that staff are the key to a successfulI unit.1 No studies presently exist that have attempted to explore the desires andperceptions ofpersons who choose to work in this specialized environment. This article reports the findings of a study conducted at an 82-bed facility dedicated exclusively to the care of persons with Alzheimer's disease and dementia. Findings from this study will assist in planning an environment which decreases staff turn-over and increases staff satisfaction.
