Susan Cochrane, MSW, ACSW

Department of Social Work, The College of St. Catherine, and The University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota

Karen S. Feldt, RN, MSN

School of Nursing, University of Minnesota

A model for a series of educational classes for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer's disease is presented. This paper offers a rationale for comprehensive and practical classes as well as a detailed outline, bibliography, and tips for beginning instructors. Future areas of study include the long range impact of educational classes on the family's ability to manage the multiple tasks associated with the caregiver role.
