Children and memory loss

A program designed to help children cope when an adult they love has a dementing illness

Alzheimer's disease and related disorders are often described as having significant effects on all family members. Yet, while there is much research and programming devoted to caregivers, spouses and adult children, the effects of the disease process on young children in the family are often overlooked. The program described in this article was apilotprogram designed to assist children with a better comprehension of dementing illness and to promote parent/child communication about this topic.
